Vincent J. Ignizio, 77, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Bartley Healthcare, Jackson Twp., NJ. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, had lived on Staten Island, NY, settling in Jackson Twp. numerous years ago.
Vincent was a proud United States Veteran serving in the Army during the Vietnam Era, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was drafted and sent to Germany during the conflict.
He graduated from the College of Staten Island, NY.
Vincent was employed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as the supervisor for the Heliport for over 40 years before retiring.
Vincent was a past Grand Knight and 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus Council #6201 and a member of the American Legion Post #504, both in Jackson Twp. A devout Catholic, Vincent was a communicant of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Jackson Twp.
A 9/11 cancer survivor, Vincent loved to travel and travel to his home in Naples, FL, but most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents Stephen and Virginia Ignizio; and by his brother, Stephen Ignizio. Vincent is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carmela Ignizio; his daughter, Theresa Ignizio-Militello and her husband, Anthony; his son, Vincent Michael Ignizio and his wife, Letizia; his granddaughters, Alyssa Militello, Olivia Militello and Lina Ignizio; his brother, Richard Ignizio; and by his sister, Lorraine Ignizio-Giliotti.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, January 18, 2023, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. A funeral gathering will be offered at 9 AM on Friday, January 19, 2023, at the funeral home. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Arneytown, NJ 08652.
