Rafael Velazquez, aged 60, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, in Albany. Originally from New York, he spent his childhood in the Bronx. Rafael found his passion in a career in law enforcement and served as an officer for the Police Authority in New York and New Jersey for over a decade. He was a first responder on 9/11, an American Hero. Later, he transitioned to become a dedicated yoga instructor.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Rafael found joy in cultivating fruit trees and tending to his yard. Known for his love for life and deep affection for his family, he cherished his wife, Adriana, and all their furry companions. Rafael is survived by his wife, son Rafael Lorenzo Velazquez, grandchildren, Noah Lorenzo Velazquez, and Alyana Beatrice Velazquez; sister-in-law Elizabeth Stipa, brother-in-law Ricardo Stipa, niece Candace Nejat and her husband Kris Nejat, great nephews Abey Nejat and Nate Nejat, as well as several siblings. He was preceded in death by his son, Emilio Jose Velazquez, and his mother Sara Molina-Velazquez and his father Raul Velazquez.
