Joseph Thomas Black, a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away on November 10, 2024. Born on May 23, 1994, in Freehold, NJ, Joseph was a beacon of joy and laughter, whose presence was a blessing to all who knew him. He departed this world in Jackson, NJ, leaving behind a legacy of love, honor, and cherished memories.
Joseph's life was marked by his unwavering love for his family and his passions. He is survived by his adoring daughter, Riley Mae Black, who was the apple of his eye; his loving wife, Allison Black; his parents, Dolores and Tim Black; his brothers, Johnny and Jordan Black; and his nephew, Roman Black-Oak. He also leaves behind his many beloved friends and coworkers, who will miss his spirited presence dearly. He is predeceased by his brother Trevor Black.
Joseph's commitment to service was evident in his tenure with the US Army, where he served from 2014 to 2017. He was stationed in Korea and was a proud member of the Panthers, where he operated tanks with skill and bravery. His honorable discharge was a testament to his character and dedication. Following his military career, Joseph began his career as a trackman for the NJ Path Train Union TWU, where he was respected for his work ethic and camaraderie.
Beyond his professional life, Joseph was known for his vibrant personality and his ability to light up any room he entered. A handsome and funny man, his laughter was indeed contagious, and his sense of humor brought smiles to the faces of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Joseph was also a deeply devoted fan of the NJ Devils Hockey team, sharing his enthusiasm and team spirit with anyone willing to engage in hockey talk.
Music was another of Joseph's great loves, and he enjoyed the powerful chords of heavy metal as much as the soulful melodies of country music. His eclectic taste was a reflection of his open-mindedness and his appreciation for the artistry in all forms of expression. Joseph was also a talented photographer, capturing the beauty of the world through his lens. His creative spirit shone through in his drawing and painting, hobbies that allowed him to share his inner world with those around him.
Joseph's life was a tapestry of service, joy, and creativity. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made will be felt for generations to come. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his daughter, his wife, his family, and his friends. Joseph's memory will be a guiding light to all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by his kindness, his laughter, and his love.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a service beginning at 8:00pm, at Old Bridge Funeral Home, 2350 Rt 516, Old Bridge, NJ 08857.
