John "Jack" Stone, age 88, of Secaucus, New Jersey passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024. John was born to the late Michael and Marion (Vallery) Stone in Jersey City, NJ and lived there until 1962 before moving here to Secaucus. John was a veteran of the Navy Reserves and was a Port Authority Police Lieutenant for 20 years before retiring in 1980. He was a hero who at 14 years old saved his baby brother in a house fire, and then went on to continue watching over others in his career in Law Enforcement. He was a big fan of the NY Yankees, a HUGE fan of the NY Giants, an avid fisherman, and he loved cruising, no matter where the ship took him. He always said, "to me the vacation is being on the ship, I don't care where I go". A car ride with Jack meant listening endlessly to The Bee Gees or Neil Diamond on CD. More recently, his favorite past time was playing (and usually winning) Pokeno with family and friends. He never met a stranger. He loved to tell stories of his childhood escapades in the country in Marcella and Lake Shawnee and his exciting experiences on the Police Force.

John was married to his loving wife of 68 years, Helen (Kletch) Stone; Cherished Father of Kenneth Stone and his wife Nova, Robert Stone and his wife Maria, and Susan Flanagan and her husband Joseph; Devoted grandfather of John, Hugo, Halina, Lucas, Hunter, and Lili; Amazing great grandfather of Matthew, Juliana, Jonathan, and Luke; Loving brother of Michael Stone and his wife Judy, Jimmy Stone and his wife Debbie, and Pat McCracken; John was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. He was beloved by so many and will be missed terribly.

A visitation for John will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 5 to 7PM at Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ. A Funeral Home Prayer Service will occur Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 11AM, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ followed by his committal service at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum, 340 Ridge Rd, North Arlington, NJ 07031.
