Jack Brewster, 74, of Metuchen, moved on to a new journey on Friday, September 13, 2024. Born in Baltimore, MD, Jack spent his life in the Edison/Metuchen area. He attended Our Lady of Peace, St. Joe’s, and then went on to Randolph-Macon College.

His career began at the American Arbitration Association in Somerset as the Supervisor of the Commercial and Construction Department. He later moved to the Port Authority of NY/NJ as an Employment Relations Panel Administrator. He was passionate about his work and loved every single minute of it.

Jack did not have hobbies or interests; he had a passion for everything he did. We can’t really say there was an order in ranking these passions, as he felt equally passionate about all of them. He loved soccer and started playing while at St. Joe’s, continued at Randolph-Macon, then was part of the Edison North End Team, and then became part of the greatest group of friends and players at Myrtle Field where he played soccer until May 2024. He truly lived to play with them each Sunday.

To say Jack was a NY Giants fan would be a complete understatement—he was a fanatic. From attending early games as a child at the Polo Grounds to becoming an adult season ticket holder, he enjoyed season after season, riding the bus with the South River Moose. And oh, the stories!

He was equally passionate about fishing and classic movies, with Robin Hood starring Errol Flynn and The Great Escape being his favorites.

And then, there was his passion for politics…

Jack is predeceased by his mother, Veronica Brewster, and his beloved eight dogs, including his Bouv Girls, Remy and Halia.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Virginia; his three dogs, Sydney, Marsh, and Nikki; his beloved three-legged cat, Junior; his brother-in-law Ralph, Ralph’s wife Bernadette, and Savannah; and his nieces Carly (with Chris, Rylee, and Chewy) and Sarah (with Dante and Batty). He is also survived by his brother-in-law George and many loving cousins and their families.

A viewing will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave, Metuchen, NJ 08840.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 8:15 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords, NJ.
