It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of my beloved father, Gregory Wieczorek, who left us on July 12, 2024, at the age of 72.  Born and raised in downtown Jersey City and living his adult life in Bayonne, "Wiz," as he was affectionately known to friends and family alike, had a larger-than-life persona, infectious laugh, quick wit, and always wanted to have fun with the people he cared most about. His loyalty and love for his family and friends were unquestioned, which made him the man that I as his son could only hope to emulate and made him the man that everyone loved.

Wiz served the Port Authority of NY/NJ in his capacity of Operations Supervisor at the Lincoln & Holland Tunnels for 33 ½ years, earning commendations for excellence and bravery although he was most proud of being a retiree for the next 17 ½ years.

Wiz was an avid horseman and track goer. His final visit to Saratoga this summer marked his 60th year of enjoying the Spa and the betting windows. In addition, he loved his sports especially NCAA March Madness, going to Vegas and AC for some action, and was a pretty good athlete in his own right. From patrolling the outfield of Gorman Field in the fabled Brotherhood softball league for Surplus to the hardwood of the Jersey City Armory helping St. Anthony to their first two state titles, Wiz played every minute and out just like he lived as hard as he could.

He is survived by me, his son, Steven, and his god daughter, Annette, god son Dave, and the countless friends and family, who mourn his passing and will forever be touched by his legacy of laughter, joy, and love.
