Domenico Tolipani, beloved spirit and cherished member of both his family and the community, passed away peacefully from natural causes on June 17, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born on February 15, 1948, to Maria Grazia Tolipani (Baldi) and Libonio Tolipani, and lived many happy years with his partner Ronnie Cichowski, all of whom preceded him in death.
Domenico's journey was marked by creativity, kindness and a deep commitment to his family and friends. After attending the Fashion Institute of Technology, he dedicated >many years to a successful career at the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey before retiring.
Beyond his professional achievements, Domenico was committed to helping LGBTQ+ elders and spent many years volunteering for Sage (sageuse.org). Among his duties, he would assist with planning multiple events for “his seniors” over the years. He brought events to life that brought joy to those around him. His artistic talents and generous spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Domenico was also an active member, and former board member, of the Imperial Court of New York. Attending the balls held by the Imperial Court brought him immeasurable joy.
He is survived by his loving sister, Angela Romano (Tolipani), and by his nieces and nephews Tracy Belton (Romano), Tina Marie Lindahl (Romano), and Joseph Romano, also his godson. Domenico was a cherished grand-uncle to Jade Romano, Skye Romano, Vincenzo Belton, Giovanni Domenico Belton, and Alessia Belton, also his goddaughter.
Domenico Tolipani leaves behind a loving family and a wide circle of friends, all of whom were deeply touched by his warmth, creativity, and compassion. His memory will be held dear by those whose lives he brightened.
In honoring Domenico Tolipani's life, we celebrate a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. He will be remembered with profound affection and gratitude, forever cherished in our hearts.
A memorial service to celebrate Domenico's life will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Franklin Funeral Home, 42 New Hyde Park Road, Franklin Square, NY 11010. The Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 9:30 am at St. Anne’s Church, 35 Dartmouth Street, Garden City, NY 11530.
