"...And the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;" said Adell Jiles Jr on May 29, 2024 as he walked through Heaven's gates.

Adell to many; also known as AD, Dad, Cousin, Brother and a friend to all, was born on May 5, 1970 to Deborah and Adell Jiles Sr in Newark, New Jersey. AD was the second oldest of his siblings whom he cared so very deeply about, as well as his cousins. Family was one of the most important pillars of his life.

He attended New Jersey City University where he met the love of his life Sally-Ann, and went on to pursue a career in law enforcement. After working briefly with the Essex County Sheriff's Department, eventually he became one of the most legendary and highly decorated Police Detectives with the Port Authority of NY & NJ for over 20 years.

Not only was he a dedicated officer, he was also a devoted husband as well as a loving father. He married Sallyann on August 1, 1998 and together they created their 3 beautiful children. AD was a lover of the New York Jets, DJing, and cooking. He was a 9/11 first responder. He loved to make everyone laugh, and would stop at nothing to make sure that he took care of those around him.

He is survived by his devoted wife Sally-Ann, daughters Aaryn (Andrew) and Cynthia, son Lorenzo, niece Brionna (Marquis), sisters Kathy, Quinlan, Joan, and Tamiko, brothers Tavon (Angela), Dwain and Hassan. He is preceded in death by his parents Deborah and Adell Jiles Sr, and Grandmother Kathleen Grant.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to the amazing doctors and nurses who tended to his care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the UPenn Liver and Kidney Transplant fund in AD's honor. (giving.aws.cloud.upenn.edu)
