Juanito Alberto Rohan, a.k.a. Bob Rohan, 101 years of age, of Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Friday, August 19, 2022.
Juanito Alberto Rohan was born on St. Thomas, U. S. Virgin Islands in 1921. His parents were Arthur Leonel Rohan and Enez Joline Petersen. 3 months later the family moved to their new place of residence on Mott Avenue, Bronx, New York City.
Bob Rohan graduated from Stuyvesant High School New York City in 1939. He was conscripted into the United States Army in 1942 and as a member of the 92nd Infantry, the last Buffalo Soldiers brigade, he saw combat in Italy during World War ll. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
He returned to NYC and became a Port of New York /New Jersey Authority police officer in 1949 from which he would retire 23 years later. In 1950 he married his beloved Edy Luisa Ventura of the Dominican Republic in Manhattan, New York City. They were married for 72 years.
The couple had four children. In 1972 he began a career in security at the New York City Stock Exchange from which he retired 15 years later.
The couple moved to Florida from New Jersey in 2015.
Juanito Alberto Rohan is survived by his wife Edy, his children: Leonel, Laura Fleischman, Juan, Marianela along with 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Bob Rohan was treasured by all who knew him. His “joie de vivre “was truly unique and he will be sorely missed.
