In Memory of Claire Goldstein

Claire Flaherty Goldstein, 85 of Brick, NJ, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022. Born in Jersey City she was a lifelong resident of North Arlington, NJ before moving to Brick, NJ in 1998. Claire retired from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as an administrative assistant.

Once Claire retired from the Port Authority she couldn’t wait to move closer to the Jersey Shore which was one of her favorite places. When she moved to the Greenbriar community in Brick, she was actively involved in the Kiwanis Club. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and was an avid reader, Jeopardy watcher and super fan of the NY Giants.

Claire is predeceased by her parents William and M. Claire Houghton Flaherty, brothers and sisters-in-law William and Beatrice Flaherty, James and Patricia Flaherty, brothers John and Robert, ex-husband Edward D. Goldstein, brothers-in-law William and Robert Goldstein and her cousin Rev. Msgr. Francis J. Houghton.

She is survived by her daughters Mariclaire Scott and husband Darryl of Lincroft, NJ, Susan Boccio and husband David of Northport, NY and Jane McGarry and husband Patrick of Mount Olive, NJ, five grandchildren, Michael, Lauren and Steven Boccio, Katherine Scott and Daniel McGarry, sisters-in-law Kay and Marion Goldstein, caregiver Gula Aghniashvili and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a viewing on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 4-7pm at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, 11am at St. Martha's RC Church, Point Pleasant. Burial will follow to Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
