Mehmet Yontar of Berkeley Heights, NJ (formerly of Madison, NJ) passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at the age of 96.

Mehmet was born in Seydisehir, Turkey to Hatice and Recep Yontar. He had been a resident of Berkeley Heights, NJ since 1976.
Mehmet had been employed as Director of Engineering Research at Port Authority of NY/NJ for 27 years before retiring in 1989. He accomplished many things throughout his time with Port Authority including, but not limited to, Holland Tunnel renovation, NYC Metro Track renovations, and World Trade Center.
He was pre-deceased in 2015 by his beloved his wife, Monique Yontar. Mehmet is survived by his Stepson, Jack Runge of Columbia Falls Montana, Stepdaughter, Monique Runge Gilroy of St. Louis Missouri; his cherished grandchildren, Melissa of Wisconsin, Danielle of Connecticut, Scott, Pamela, and Janet, all of St. Louis Missouri. He is also survived by his 7 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews, both in the United States & Turkey.
