Genevieve A. Paulhus age 95, of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021.
The daughter of Albert and Gertrude (Moriarty) Paulhus and step-daughter of Lucille (Pizzarelli) Paulhus. She moved to Fair Lawn in 1930 where she attended the Bergen Avenue School (now the Board of Education building), graduated from Roosevelt School (now John Forrest School), St. Joseph’s High School and Sherwood Secretarial School, both in Paterson. Ms. Paulhus graduated with honors from Fordham University. Genevieve was a parishioner of St. Anne RC Church in Fair Lawn where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Originally a legal secretary, she worked at a NYC law firm until joining the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey from which she retired after 30 years. Subsequently, she was employed by the Griswold Warehouse Company in Elizabeth, NJ, Hess Oil Company in NYC, then joined C and C Abstract Company in Hackensack, NJ from which she retired in 2000.
Genevieve is survived by her beloved nephew, James Paulhus and his wife Deborah of Little Falls, her niece, Hilda Paulhus of Riverdale, her great nephew, Joseph (Kimberly) Paulhus of Hillsdale, her great niece Melissa (Phillip) Jannssen of North Caldwell, great nephew Kevin Paulhus of Riverdale and great niece Rebecca (Matthew) Borkowski of Clifton. She is also survived by her great-great nieces and nephews, Makenzie and Mason Paulhus, Alex and Charlotte Borkowski and Noelle Ann Jannssen. She was predeceased by her beloved brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Dick) and Shelby Paulhus, sister, Frances Shirley Paulhus, nephews, Thomas and Michael Paulhus.
A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Monday, January 11, 2021, 10:30am at St. Anne RC Church, 15-05 St. Anne Street, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah with her sister. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday, 2 – 6pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne RC Church.
