In Memory of

k9 Nero

April 20, 2007 - November 9, 2019

k9 Nero was born on April 20, 2007.

He was certified in explosive detection and was partnered with Police Officer Brett Porigow from the Port Authority of NY & NJ.  K9 Nero, Shield #59, served the Port Authority Police Department from April 2008, through May of 2018, as an explosive detection canine protecting the people of New York, New Jersey and the millions using Port Authority facilities.

The Port Authority PBA is saddened by the passing of retired PAPD K9 Nero, E.O.W. 11/9/19.

Nero bravely fought cancer for nine and a half weeks, much longer than any of his doctors estimated; a testament to his warrior spirit. He enjoyed his retirement with his partner's family and left this life at 12 years old while in his partner's arms.
