Alecia A. Brown

January 9, 1962 - December 1, 2016


Alecia Ann Brown Retired Port Authority police officer, 9-11 survivor Alecia Ann Brown, 54, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Kindred Hospital in Rahway.

Born on January 9, 1962, to Richard and Irene (Evans) Brown in Trenton, N.J., Alecia was raised in Jersey City, N.J., and resided in North Plainfield, N.J., before moving to South Plainfield, N.J., eight years ago.

The visitation will be held on Saturday, December 10, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Higgins Funeral Home, 209 West 8th St., Plainfield, N.J., followed by a funeral service at 12 noon at the funeral home. Cremation is private. To send condolences, please visit

Alecia attended Virginia Union University. She was employed as a police officer for the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey, and was a 9-11 survivor. She retired Nov. 29, 2008.

She enjoyed traveling, fishing, and music. Alecia is survived by her parents, Irene (Evans) Gaynor and James Gaynor; sister, Simone Brown; brother, Darin Gaynor; two nieces, Paris Brown and Normandy Brown-Lands, and a host of loving family and friends.
