Daniel Mullen, 75

Daniel P. Mullen, 75, of West Brighton, a retired
Port Authority engineer/systems analyst, died July 10 in
Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton.
Born in Port Richmond, he graduated from St. Peterís
Boys High School. He moved to New Brighton in the early
1960s and relocated to Manhattan in the early 1970s. He
returned to the Island 10 years later, settling in West
Mr. Mullen earned his bachelorís degree in industrial
engineering and masterís degree in business
administration from New York University.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956,
achieving the rank of sergeant. Disabled during his
service, he was grateful for assistance from the
American Legion and supported that organization.
He worked as a senior engineer/systems analyst for the
Port Authority for more than 10 years, until retiring in
the late 1990s.
Mr. Mullen subscribed to the
Metropolitan Opera and was a frequent museum visitor and
supporter. Favorites were the Metropolitan Museum of
Art, American Museum of Natural History and Solomon R.
He loved joking with his nieces and nephews and was
known for his impromptu, dry Irish wit. Mr. Mullen
was a parishioner of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West
Brighton. Surviving are his brothers, Brian P. and
The funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the
Harmon Home for Funerals, West Brighton. Arrangements
