In Memoriam




Francis J. "Frank" McGrath, 69, passed away Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at Pope John Paul II Pavilion, Orange. Frank had been employed as an electrician with the Port Authority of NY & NJ. He was an active member of the Port Authority Division of Local #3 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, serving on the Wage & Policy Committee and leading the Division as chairman for 10 years. He was an avid and accomplished musician playing guitar and bass for several local bands in North Jersey and at the shore. He also composed music and sang with these same bands. Born in Jersey City, he had resided there and in the West Belmar section of Wall his entire life. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, Thomas J. and Veronica E. Burke McGrath and is survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth McCullough McGrath; his loving son Sean and his wife Christina; his loving siblings and their spouses, Elizabeth and Dominick Colarusso of Wall, Thomas and Ellen McGrath of Melbourne, Fla., and Vincent and Marcene McGrath of Johnson City, N.Y.; his dear in-laws, Ginny and Tom Flahive, Eileen and Gerard Wihlborg, John and Susan McCullough, Mary Claire McCullough, and Joe and Chantal McCullough,;and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2009 at St. Rose Church, Belmar. Burial in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to the Block Institute, 376 Bay 44th St., Brooklyn, NY 11214 in his memory.
