IN MEMORIAM

November 4, 2007
Amos Ilan - I never met Amos in my 36 years at the PA.  Amos retired in 1995 as Manager, Economic Analysis Division after 25 years.  I retired in 1997 and a few of us retirees that had worked together decided to make it a regular lunch date that whenever we can get more than four of us free at the same time we go to lunch.

That's where I met Amos, he is a close friend to many of my friends so therefore Amos became my friend.   I got to know Amos as a really gentle and soft spoken man and I really enjoyed our brief meetings for lunch.

Amos was not feeling well for about a year now and has finally found peace.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family and his wife Sylvia.  I say this from all of us that have have been lucky enough to have crossed his path over the years.....Dear Amos......Rest In Peace!

Subject: Amos's funeral

I know that each of you had a list of people whom you had been in touch with about Amos.  Sylvia has asked me to give you the following funeral information.  Please pass this info along to those on your lists and anyone else whom you think of.

Note that the funeral location is different than earlier discussion.  Central Synagogue is a beautiful house of worship that had a special place in Amos's heart.  He and Sylvia have long been members there.  It is a most special and appropriate place for family and friends to remember and honor Amos.

I'm sorry that such a sad occasion is the cause of my contact with you.

Sylvia and family will be sitting Shiva, but I do not yet have those details.  They will, I am sure, be announced at the funeral service.

All of us in P&D were privileged to know a number of honorable and trustworthy men and women.  Amos was indeed in this category. As someone who benefited from showcasing Amos` and Rosemary's work, I was always certain of their conclusions and analyses.

Having worked in many organizations since then, I can say unhesitatingly that Amos was without peer.  In football and life, a man can be complimented by saying he was sweet.  By that is meant he had nothing but kind things to say at all times about his colleagues and workmates some of whom who often made unreasonable requests.  Amos never failed to fill the bill.

I hope he enjoyed his life and his work and his family.  I missed him and many others who often made me look good while I was in the old PA.  As we bid him goodbye, let us celebrate a good man who lived a life with much accomplishment and served as an example to all of us of how gentlemen conduct themselves.
