AIELLI Mary Carmel Aielli Port Authority employee, 50 Loved the arts Miss Mary Carmel (Catrillo, Kondakjian) Aielli died on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Atlantic Health Care and Hospice in Morristown. She was 50 years old.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main St., Madison, with a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patricks Church, Chatham. Interment is in St. Vincents Cemetery, Madison. Visitation is Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Born in Jersey City, Miss Aielli lived in Chatham before moving to Florham Park eight years ago.

She worked in special services for the Port Authority in N.Y.C. for 10 years. She was not retired. A graduate of Holy Family Academy in Bayonne, she received her bachelors degree from Jersey City State College and her masters from Seton Hall University in South Orange. She was past president of the Jersey City Museum and was an incredibly artistic person who loved the arts, opera and ballet. She was also a very brave person who guided many people to safety when the World Trade Center was attacked in 1993 by leading them in total darkness down 50 flights of stairs, singing, with a single flashlight.

She is survived by her mother, Jennie (nee Tomeo) Aielli; her brothers and sister, Joseph S. and his wife, Catherine, Carole Breheny and her husband, Patrick, Patrick and Donald Aielli; five nieces and nephews, Jennifer Breheny Wallace, Natalie Breheny Jones, Michelle, Joseph and Jesse Aielli. In lieu of flowers, donations to National MS Society-Greater North Jersey, 1 Kalisa Way, Suite 205, Paramus, N.J. 07652 in her memory would be appreciated.
