Continental Airlines head of security Port Authority police
lieutenant Korean War Navy veteran, 75 John P. Gaw, 75, of
Monroe Township died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at St. Peters
University Hospital, New Brunswick.
will begin at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at the Lester
Memorial Home, 16 W. Church St., Jamesburg, followed by a 9:30
a.m. Funeral Liturgy at Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church, Monroe
Township. Burial will be in Holy Cross Burial Park, East
Brunswick. Visiting hours for family and friends will be on
Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born in Long
Island City, N.Y., Mr. Gaw lived in Ridgefield Park for 30 years
before moving to the Ponds at Clearbrook community in Monroe
Township in 1995. He was employed for 12 years as the head of
security for Continental Airlines, Newark, retiring in 2000.
Previously, he was employed for 31 years by the Port Authority
of New York and New Jersey Police Department, retiring in 1986
as a lieutenant.
Mr. Gaw was
a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Tin Can
Sailors. He was also a member of the Ponds at Clearbrook Tennis
Club, and the Elks and Knights of Columbus, both in Ridgefield
Park. Mr. Gaw was predeceased by his wife, Marie (Werbkay) Gaw,
in 2005, and a brother, Edward. Surviving are his son, Robert,
of Galloway Township; two daughters, Carol Petrosino of
Hillsborough and Mary Ann Giambagno of Plainsboro, and five
grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the
American Cancer Society.
